MARKET RASEN TABLE TENNIS CLUB NEWSLETTER – 2022. Venue Faldingworth VillageHall, Lincolnshire.

A small club providing first class conditions with first class equipment for up to 4 table tennis tables in the village hall.   All ages are welcome  – members come from all over Lincolnshire for social play on Friday evenings regularly 7.15pm – 9.15pm.  ALSO   League play – in the local Lincoln League on Thursday evenings during the winter/spring months. Other occasional times are booked for invited training, mainly juniors with qualified UKCC coaches in attendance. 

 

We have come through pandemic, fulfilling a full League programme starting in October 2021 to March 2022 season. We run 3 teams - 2 in Division 1 and 1 in Division 2 mainly to bring on homegrown juniors who then are fit to represent their Universities when they reach their late teens.  In our website https://marketrasentabletennis.webador.co.uk you can find all our history going back to 2006 when we opened.  Many achievements through the years of our teams, County representation for juniors, providing coaching, or playing for fun – all standards.  By demand we kept open out of season this year until end of July – August  is definitely a holiday break.

 

We are indebted to the Memorial Hall Committee who has not only welcomed us for more than 6 years.   We started up the club in MR Cricket pavilion, then moved on to the local De-Aston School for a few years and now are happily at Faldingworth Memorial Hall.  

 

We have just had a very successful season – 3 competing teams in the Lincoln League.   1st team – Division 1  won the division (first time ever)  with Cpt. Lesley Keast (MR), young Chloe Lingard(Keelby), Marilyn Bawden (Sleaford) and young Jack Bradley (Skegness). A super achievement.

We are very proud of them.  2nd team in Division 1 – Cpt.Michael Tindall (MR), Jacob Bennett (MR and still at University), Derek Fuller (Timberland), Stephen Naylor (Middle Rasen) & Roy Ellis (Lincoln) and late comer Dave Heppenstall (Sutton-on-Sea) – struggled but stayed up in this Division – “Hooray” 

3rd team in Division 2 – Cpt.Sylvia Tyler (MR), Henry James (Middle Rasen), Charlie Carter dad of  Tom Carter both (Faldingworth).  This coming season will loose Charlie, and Tom& Henry are off to University and the RAF!!!  Good Luck to both.  This team concentrates solely on the junior side of the club and each year loses its players to University quite consistently. We hope to promote more juniors this coming year as their standard rises. 

National Success for our Ladies Veterans British League team.

Our Ladies Veterans team in England’s Vetts British League finished top of the Premier division 2021/22 – A big achievement.  Our thanks to Lesley Keast (Mkt Rasen) and guest members Rose Rainton (Sussex), Jane Vickers (Derbyshire) and Sarah Horsnell (Middx).  All highly ranked in England’s National rankings.

 

Social Evenings and training sessions – everyone welcome again.

We open the 2nd week in September Friday 9th   7.15pm – 9.15pmish. Community Group on Fridays

We welcome all ages male and female, all standards to our Club evenings Every Friday for Social play, league interest and general practice. 7.15pm – 9.15pm – cost £3 per visit. ALL EQUIPMENT PROVIDED – 4 tables with nets, balls and bats. Wear casual clothes and soft shoes/trainers.

 

Although a small Club we participate in National competition – 1 Ladies Veteran team in the Englishg National Veteran British League - Premier division. A number of our players play for the County teams in all age groups and also play in National tournaments around the country. In local competition: Lincoln League – 2 teams this year in Division1 and 1 team in Division2, all teams are mixed age groups picked on ability - juniors and seniors.

 

We are very interested in JUNIOR COACHING from beginners through to advanced, in a group situation and individual by arrangement. We are lucky to have 2 UKCC Level 2 qualified coaches – Bryn & SylviaTyler

 

There is County recognition at junior, senior and veterans level for those who make the grade and are interested to play. In the past our Juniors have been invited to Regional level development training and County training. BUT we enjoy having social table tennis members to. Come along on a Friday, we are a very friendly group.

Michael Tindall, a regular League player, is our Webmaster – keeps our website up to date with league results, team, individual achievements and County recognition, sometimes with photos. Teams in the 2021/2022 Lincoln League

We have currently 2 teams in Division 1, and 1 team in Division 2 – Our first teams plays all their home matches at Crusaders Table Tennis Club in Lincoln. Our 2^nd and 3^rd team play their HOME matches at FALDINGWORTH every Thursday alternately during the league season - see calendar of fixtures on the Village Hall board. 

1^st Team Divn.1: Lesley Keast, Marilyn Bawden, Jack Bradley, Graham Lacey and Chloe Lingard.

2nd Team Divn.1: Mick Tindall, Roy Ellis, Steve Naylor and Derek Fuller - Thursdays.

3^rd Team Divn. 2: Sylvia Tyler, Henry James, Charlie and Tom Carter – on Thursdays

Be inspired: Why not come along to Faldingworth Memorial Hall for a game of social table tennis. Every Friday throughout the winter. The Market Rasen TTC is in the village hall and welcomes all ages to their group for “Social” table tennis. All equipment provided even a bat for you to loan – learn to play or just enjoy a fun evening with your colleagues 7.15pm until 9.15pm depending on nos. £3.00, any ages, everyone welcome, wear casual clothing and soft footwear.
